Meet Matt & Jordan

Matt and Jordan are a vibrant couple who recently moved from the West Coast to Sandy Springs. Passionate about cooking and spending quality time together, they found themselves in a home that didn’t match their sunny dispositions or culinary ambitions.

Eager to infuse their new space with the light and openness they cherished, they knew their 1960s kitchen needed a significant makeover. Their interior designer pointed them in our direction, and we were thrilled to go on this transformative journey with them.

The Challenge

The original kitchen was dark, closed off, and severely lacking natural light. The layout was cramped, making beloved cooking sessions more of a chore than a joy. The absence of natural light was particularly disheartening for the couple, who prefer the bright, airy kitchens of the West Coast. The kitchen became a daily source of frustration in a home that was supposed to be their sanctuary.

Layout & Material Choices

During Matt and Jordan’s visit to our showroom, we discussed their vision for their kitchen and the specific aesthetic they wanted to bring to life

Matt and Jordan wanted a nature-inspired kitchen with plenty of natural light. They decided to use natural wood lower cabinets, a green tile backsplash that extends to the ceiling and reflects the light, and open shelving to continue the airy, relaxed feel. The matte black fixtures and cabinet hardware contrast beautifully with the natural wood. Using glass pendant lights above the island ensures open site lines and maximizes the space.

Build

Project Build

We started by demoing the kitchen and removing three walls connected to the kitchen to open the space. We had to reconfigure the kitchen for better flow when cooking in the kitchen.

Next, we installed new cabinets, countertops, lighting, backsplash, and floating shelves. We also installed new floors and Wolf appliances to give the kitchen a modern touch.

Enjoy Your New Space

Matt and Jordan love cooking together in a kitchen that was designed just for them. They have a larger island space to prepare the food, and the new layout makes it easier for them to move around the kitchen.

They also have a reading nook in the kitchen where they get to spend time while drinking coffee in the mornings. The kitchen is now a bright, open space reflecting their personality and style.
