Ranney Blair Weidmann helped Ginger and David turn their basement into a vibrant space designed for family gatherings and lively entertainment. With a focus on functionality and fun, the space now features a stylish bar, theater, game area, golf simulator, and easy access to the outdoor pool and patio.
The original walls created a maze-like effect, blocking natural flow and confining each area to a small footprint. Essential structural supports further restricted design options, and the space lacked dedicated zones for the variety of features they envisioned. To meet their needs, the new layout had to go beyond simply “opening up” the basement; it required thoughtful planning to incorporate multiple functional spaces—a cozy reading nook, a fully equipped bar and kitchenette, a golf simulator, a theater, and a game area—each thoughtfully positioned for flow and usability.
Our team worked closely with Ginger and David to create a vision that suited both their needs and maximized the space’s potential. We presented detailed mood boards, 3D models, and floor plans to help them explore possibilities for flow, layout, and style.
With a clear design in hand, construction began. Key changes included removing walls to open up the space, integrating structural elements into the design, and adding custom-built shelving and trim. The bar and kitchenette were meticulously crafted to include functional features like a sink, beverage fridge, dishwasher, and two TVs.
Ginger and David’s basement is now a versatile retreat, perfect for everything from cozy family nights to large gatherings with friends. The seamless connection to the pool and patio adds an extra layer of functionality, creating a true indoor-outdoor space ready for entertaining.
“Really enjoyed our experience with Ranney Blair. Excellent communication with us throughout the process, which is rare with most contractors. We knew the schedule, who would be at our house and when, and Darius (our project manager) was very communicative with any questions/concerns/changes. Highly recommend them … and I am very picky. 😊”
